Middle school matters. According to U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne
Duncan, “The middle grade years have been called the ‘Bermuda Triangle’ of K-12
education. It’s the time when students
sink or swim.” For high poverty
communities in particular, time spent in middle school can either put students
on the path to college and careers- or steer them to dropping out and eventual
unemployment. LATM's programming focuses on guiding middle school students during this critical period in time, to help them dream big, believe in themselves, and achieve brighter futures.
LATM offers three programs to address the needs of at-risk middle school youth in Los Angeles:
1,800 at-risk youth are waiting for a caring mentor to enhance their lives. Could you be the one to expand their world?
There are many ways to contribute to our program's success--even a small amount can make a difference!
